Crafternoon – Homestate Art

One of my very best friends just turned 22, and she has always valued travel in her life. Not the week long, jam packed tourist traveling (although that’s great too), more like moving somewhere to experience the culture and really immersing yourself into another world. She’s from Pennsylvania, studied abroad in Senegal and France, and now lives in DC. This craft project really needs no more explaining.

I’ve attached the ¬†illustrator instructions. This looks much harder than it actually is!

1) find your state silhouette on Google images and paste into illustrator on whichever background you choose (to make a background, make a colored rectangle with no stroke. however if you have illustrator and don’t know how to make a colored background, you don’t deserve CS6.) It’s okay if the state is in poor quality or has a background, you will eliminate the background next.

4) delete the surrounding shape, only leaving your state. Then PLACE a jpeg/png of the pattern you wish to use. Use the layers panel to arrange the pattern behind the state.

Select both the state and pattern layers, right click and press “make clipping mask”
